This book is linked to an earlier book that we have published entitled the Grandeur of the Tropical Rainforests in Peninsular Malaysia. In this book we have widened our scope to cover the whole of Malaysia. This presented a challenge as our research work in Sabah and Sarawak was somewhat limited. In this regard, we were pleased to be supported by the Forestry Departments of Sabah and Sarawak. Consequently, we managed to produce a book that we hope will truly reflect the tropical forests of Malaysia as a whole. A book which can be presented internationally that depicts the splendour of Malaysia’s forest. We truly appreciate the efforts of the authors from different fields of expertise to collaborate in the preparation of this book. What makes this book unique is that it was prepared by scientists. Thus, it has a scientific focus to it. This was one of the challenges in the preparation of this book - to present scientific details in a manner that will make it interesting to the general public. In this regard, we like to thank individuals and agencies who have kindly allowed their photographs to be included in this book. We truly hope that this coffee table book will be well appreciated and will have broad readership. The tropical rainforests that we have inherited is truly grandeur and splendour. In this book we have but only captured a small portion of this remarkable ecosystem.
